Automatic progression and progressive overload
Progressive overload means gradually increasing a training variable such as load or repetitions. Within a defined program, automatic progression applies its rules after you log the result: it raises the load after success or activates the appropriate failure and deload stage.
Complete the prescription first
You do not need to add weight to every set. Log the sets, repetitions and outcome prescribed by the program. The next workout is calculated from that outcome and the movement's specific rules.
Linear progression
In linear progression, load increases by a defined amount after a completed session. StrongLifts and GZCLP use this principle, although their frequency, increments, volume and failure protocols differ.
Double progression
For accessory work, some programs increase repetitions within a range before adding weight. This avoids forcing a load jump when available equipment does not offer small increments.
Failures and deloads
Missing a prescription does not require improvisation. A program may hold the load, change sets and reps or reduce weight. Gravity Room stores that rule in the program definition and applies it when you log the result.
What the tracker automates
The tracker calculates the next workout from the selected definition, displays the schedule and retains history. Automation executes program rules; it does not replace choosing a reasonable starting load or using sound technique.
