GZCLP vs StrongLifts 5x5
StrongLifts 5x5 prioritizes simplicity: three weekly sessions, two alternating workouts and five sets of five for the main lifts. GZCLP uses T1, T2 and T3 tiers, a four-workout rotation and rep-scheme changes after failure. Choose StrongLifts for fewer decisions; choose GZCLP for a more detailed balance of strength and volume.
Frequency and structure
StrongLifts alternates two A/B workouts on three non-consecutive days each week and includes squats in every session. GZCLP rotates four workouts, each combining a T1 main lift, T2 secondary work and T3 accessories.
How load progresses
Both programs add load while you complete the prescribed work. In Gravity Room's catalog, StrongLifts adds 2.5 kg per session and 5 kg for deadlifts. GZCLP applies linear progression across its tiers and changes sets and reps after failure.
What happens after failure
StrongLifts applies a 10% deload after three consecutive failures on a lift. GZCLP moves T1 from 5x3 to 6x2 and later resets after the next stage. Each program page exposes these rules before you start.
Which one should you choose?
StrongLifts fits lifters who value a highly repeatable weekly pattern. GZCLP offers more rep variety and a clear split between main, secondary and accessory work. The better choice is the one compatible with your schedule and equipment.
